Steven Fox

Steven Fox has been a professional musician  for over twenty years.  Inspired by his grandmother's love for the bass in Swing Band era music Steven got his start playing upright bass in community, high school and college music theater productions and orchestras throughout Northwest Ohio.  It was at this same time he picked up the mandolin inspired by the music of David Grisman.  Steven went on to study Double Bass performance at The Ohio State University where he graduated cum laude with a Bachelor's In Music. Studying both classical and jazz he performed in OSU's Chamber Orchestra, Orchestra, Concert Band, Jazz Combo's, African Drumming Ensemble, Double Bass Ensemble as well as performances with many of the school's faculty.

Upon graduation Steven had the opportunity to record and tour the country with folk singer Clarence Bucaro.  Opening for such acts as Anders Osborne, The Subdudes, Tab Benoit and Jimmy Thackery.  In between touring with Clarence The Spikedrivers was formed and quickly became one of the most in demand Americana bands in Central Ohio.  Steven has been the bassist, manager and booking agent of The Spikedrivers for over twelve years.  Steven also performs with Fox ‘n’ Hounds (Bluegrass/Newgrass), Neil Jacobs' American Gypsy(Original Gypsy Music) and The Ramshacklers(Blues/Americana).
